In Lorieux’s photographs, there is a subtle combination of seduction and chastity, light provocation and academic. His work has perpetuated an entire era with its inherent ease and optimism. Lorieux was one of the first photographers to start shooting en plein air. Shots taken in natural light show us a game of contrasts, “electric” sea and sky combined with endless white beaches.
