ZIL. Last shower before release, 1959

Send a request

The photo “Shower before release” (1959) shows the ZIL-111 car, which is compared to the American Packard car of 1955-56, although we can talk more about styling a foreign model than copying it. Compared to the Packard models, the ZIL was larger in all dimensions, looked much stricter and “squarer”, with straightened forming lines and more complex and detailed decor. In 1959, a modification of the ZIL-111A, equipped with a Soviet air conditioning system, went into production. Externally, it differed from the base ZIL-111 by a much smaller rear window. It was this model of the car that Valentin Khukhlaev shot for his report on the release of the new car.
