Village school (6), 1970

In 1970, Vadim Opalin created a series of photographs about a village school. The author recalls: “Of course, children first made faces at me, put horns over the head of a friend, and so on. Then I used a well-known reporter’s technique: in one of the cameras hanging on my chest, there was no film at all. I made a smart face and, squatting hard and moving, energetically snapped an empty camera. And when after half a day I got tired of the children and they stopped even noticing me, I started working in earnest.”
