In 1938. Yakov Khalip was part of the rescue expedition as an official photojournalist for the “Soyuzfoto” Agency. His pictures of Papanin heroes were admired by the whole country. After the footage that captured the epic rescue of the crew of the polar station, scattered on postcards throughout the Union, a photo album was made in collaboration with Alexander Rodchenko. Dramatic and heroic moments in the history of the conquest soon became classics of Soviet and world photography.
