Sheila Metzner became the first female photographer to sign a full-time contract with Vogue magazine. Unlike many photographers who have shot for glossy magazines, she never uses a flash — only static light. This complicates the process, but at the same time gives the effect of soft smoothed contours and expressive tone transitions.
