In 1977, Guy Bourdin went on a two-month trip to the United States, during which he took a series of photos for the next advertising campaign of the brand Charles Jourdan. There was no special route planned for this trip, Bourdin had just an abstract idea that he implemented in the process. The crew traveled to several States: Florida, Louisiana, Texas, and New Orleans. The “photo within a photo” technique became one of Bourdin’s main finds and he continued to use it not only throughout the American journey, but also in many subsequent advertising campaigns of Jourdan.
